I do voice acting. I have a small business doing commercials for radio, TV, and phone systems too. I do character voices and straight reads...you can hear samples at my website. www.kbeamstudios.com It's lots of fun and pays well for a part time thing My 2 part question...Does doing voice acting/voice over help in any way to get acting jobs and how can I combine the two?

Voiceover/acting
Oh, hell yeah. The voice is the actor's top draw, I think (Looks and physique count too, of course).
I know for a fact that my voiceover CD has gotten me more work than I would have gotten without it. Beyond your samples, you might want to consider narrating literary works in the public domain (Shakespeare, The Bible, etc) as both a saleable item and a demo. Just the inclusion of a voice demo with a mailing makes you look a lot more accomplished than a 'regular' actor with just a headshot.
