More Detailed Introduction

I was very put-out when I realized that I was only allowed 500 characters to introduce myself (which, by the way, the counter is a little messed up) so, I've decided to blog the entire original thing.

I'm usually cast as the comic relief, because I'm more willing to make a fool of myself than most others. In high school, it was difficult being taken seriously because when it came to casting me it was always, "Oh, Andrew! He's so funny! Oh, look: this role calls for him to lose his pants and argue with a chicken! Let's give it to him!" I enjoy doing comedic work, but I'd like to branch out a little more.

Possibly my favorite role, and perhaps because it's the only role that wasn't strictly comedic, was that of Captain Fisby in "The Teahouse of the August Moon." Most people know the movie with Marlon Brando, who played Sakini, Fisby's translator. The interesting thing about this particular production was that as a sophomore in high school and understanding the hierarchy of casting in such an environment, it wasn't until two weeks before opening that I realized I had the lead. Until that point, I just assumed I had a lot of stage time - go me.

I mostly do theatre work, obviously, but I'd like to attempt to do some film. I think that since I've matured as an actor, a growing dream has emerged: to be in a series of some sort on television. I would love to be in a sitcom. I think I'd even enjoy joining the cast of a soap opera (though, admittedly, my soap opera knowledge is somewhat dreadful).

I'm a first-year college student right now at Eastern Michigan University, with a double-major in Theatre and French language, which I speak nearly fluently.

Sooner or later (hopefully the former) I'll be able to branch out a little more, and get picked up somewhere.
