Major disappointment

A few months ago a friend asked me to form a prouction company with him. I readily agreed as I want to advance in the business. I'm not getting anywhere as an actor and want to move into directing, producting and writing. I got business cards, we put up a site and I added a forum to it, all in an effort to raise our profile.

He's quite a bit younger than I am and recently got his SAG card. Now he tells me that his LA agent says he cannot be involved as it is a conflict of interests.

Is that right? Can someone let me know? I don't even know if anyone reads this.

Sounds fishy...

I know plenty of actors who have production companies. I think your "friend" just wanted out of the deal. Maybe he did not realize how much work would be involved? Did you guys sign any legal paperwork on this company? Can you run this on your own? Find another partner?

We never did any paperwork

We never did any paperwork of any kind. I talked to the SAG office here in Chicago and they said the information he had been given was wrong.
