Is it okay to have tattoos as an aspiring actor?
Tagged:  •

I know that many famous actors have tattoos and it doesn't seem to get them away from getting jobs at all. Of course they can conceal tattoos with cosmetics and there's no problem. But my question is that is it ssame thing for aspiring actors? Angelina Jolie gets jobs even though she has many tattoos because she is Angelina Jolie, famous actress. But if i go audition with tattoos on my leg, or arm, then if there's somebody who has same ability as me and doesn't have any tattoos, are the directors more likely to pick the non-tattoo actor? I currently don't have any tattoos but have been wanting to have one on my leg. but i don't want to risk my acting chance if it's an isue.

thank you,

Small tattoos in hidden places are probably okay, but it is much better to present a blank slate until you have achieved the career you want and can afford either a) lots of makeup artistry, or b) to lose roles.

I would suggest concealing tattoos (either with clothing or cosmetics) at auditions. If a role requires a costume that would reveal the tattoo, you'll have to work with the makeup dept to cover it up.

I have a small tattoo on my knee, but it is easily concealed so as not to present an unprofessional appearance. After all, I still have a day job too! ;)

I agree.
i have a one on my stomach.
It is a little large though.
but I don't really mind. If they are wanting the talent they will pick someone even with a tattoo, regardless.
