I'm 16, and I want to try acting. I've printed out some material from plays and shows and tried to see if I could do it and I think I did pretty well. I like drama the most, and I want some training. Should I start out trying to find a local theater to join, or try to find some serious acting classes? I'm just not sure which is better. Thanks. Oh, and in the meantime, how can I train by myself?

Hi Elaina, I'm Lesli. If acting is something you want to try.. you should try it. You'll never going to know anything until you try. I am trying to act as well. Everyone has told me to just be ready for rejection. You need to start auditioning for anything and everyting as soon as possible. I have talked to agents and actors and every single one has told me to get out there and try everything. Audition for everything and anything that comes my way. It doesn't matter if it's theatre, commercials, film, tv, etc. Just get out there and try it. But just remember, you can't get every part you audition for.. Just be ready for rejection. If Drama is what you like.. go about it hard, but don't just limit yourself to Drama. Try all kinds of acting and make sure you know alittle about each type just in case you want or even have to audition for something thats not Drama. Acting classes are going to help alot! You can join theatre and start your acting now. You can join acting classes at the same time. Acting classes help pin point what you need help on. They are great to have and it's great to be doing them. You can take acting classes and do Drama classes and do theatre all at the same time. It's only going to help you!
Good luck to you and maybe we
ll get to meet when we are both acting...
