Still looking for advice for my first film audition! A step-by-step how-to for my resume would be helpful. I have no film experience, only school & community theatre. How and what should I list? I also have a color 8x10 headshot.

Hi natbot,
Sorry I am a little late in replying to this, I have been on vacation for the last two weeks. Looking at your list here it looks to have most of what you need. The one thing I would say you absolutely should NOT have on there is your address. They don't need it, and that information is very easily misused if it falls into the wrong hands (there are horror stories I personally know about that, but I won't repeat them here).
I would also add that it should be formatted for ease of reading, don't cram everything on one line if it won't fit. In general you don't have to have a lot of experience on there, you just need to have the ability to learn, and the willingness to put yourself out there (first starting out, you will likely have to do free gigs, until you get a backing of work to get picked up by an agent, but even then, you will have to keep on selling yourself, submitting yourself for auditions, etcetera) and go all out. This is a tough business. You not only have to have acting chops, you also need to have a tough skin, and the ability to pick yourself back up and keep on going after the multiple rejections you WILL get (no one is immune from this, even the most famous actors have rejections in the past). A strong belief in yourself and your ability is one of the most important tools you will need to have.
The MOST IMPORTANT thing that will be a help or a hindrance is the quality and look of your headshot. Headshots are your first introduction, and just like meeting someone for the first time, you always want to make a good first impression. You mentioned that yours are color, and that seems to be gaining more favor lately; however, there are some that wouldn't consider you a "serious" actor with a color headshot, and there are still those that ascribe to that mindset. Take that as you will, but I have a B&W one, because I don't want to risk turning someone off that can affect whether or not I do what I love. I have a friend that has heard the only time a person is expected to have a color headshot is if they are a redhead, but I don't know how true that is, because being a redhead myself, mine are still B&W :).
Well, I hope this helps, you are welcome to ask further questions you may have. I should be on here more often now, because I am back from vacation.
re: Resume contents
Thanks, Rob. I included my address on this particular resume because it was specifically asked for by a casting director. However, I will take your advice and remove my street address from my generic resume to use for future projects.
Thanks again!
~Nat

You really shouldn't put your address on your resume. It may end up in the wrong hands (same applies to your home number). But you can put your email address, website link, and cell phone number.

if you have an agent, their information (Agency name, address, phone number, and agent) would take the place of your cell # and email address.
