Things have been slow....in fact less than slow and the questioning of career, like an evil gremlin raises its ugly head. Then something happened that made me realize that I'm not the only one. The reading that it takes about 15 years to get there makes me ralize why people get into this business early in their lives. Despite those "facts" I still have not reaced for the escape lever or pushed the ejection button. Call it stubborness or just plain dumb but there is something that I still have to accomplish.
After making a very small amount of money at the local finge show and having finished school, the summer is all in flux. The timing is a bit off as shows for the fall have been cast and the summer filming is already uinder way. What is the day job actor supposed to do?
I've been thinking about ways to market myself... how can I take what I've done and "kick it up a notch"? I think I've found the answer.
I'm struggling here in Florida. No, it's not really what you think.
Before I begin, please know that I understand the need to make a living when the acting gigs slow down. I temped for years with several movie studios in L.A. while working as an actor and musician. Nothing helps an actors career better than seeing how the big boys play and how ethical the business really is. Note: I said "BIG boys"...
While I was watching the Golden Globe Awards this past Sunday, I started to notice a trend that's been around for years. But for some reason it really stood out to me this time. It's about relationships... professional relationships.
Most notably, Kate Winslet mentioned after her two wins her relationship with her support team. The support team in Hollywood is usually agents, managers, lawyers and such. She wasn't the only one. MIckey Rourke thanked his agent, others mentioned their teams as well.
Bruce Beresford, director (Driving Miss Daisy, Breaker Morant....etc.) has directed
"Mao's last Dancer" to be released worldwide in 2009. Suzie Steen was chosen to play one of the co-stars while filming was in Australia. Watch out for this beautiful film based on the life-story of Li Cunxin. Beresford collaborated closely with Cunxin while filming.

ARE YOU READY?
I’ve been there….if You haven’t been there and want to get there – You’re either an idiot or you have something called passion.
When you get there, no matter how many times you tell yourself – “I’m cool” – check your armpits – or go outside the room and walk and see if your knees are shaking so badly that you fall down.

Professionalism
A word of caution – every casting agent I have ever met has said that the worst thing for them is when an actor comes in unprepared and unenthusiastic with no energy. It’s a waste of time for all – and a downer.
Have your photos, CV (show reel, if possible) at hand and in tiptop shape!
Be nice to the receptionist or person who greets you, but don’t overdo any “schmoozing”
Do your job and leave.
