The Actor's Survival Guide

If you call yourself an actor, the trunk of your car SHOULD contain:
1. All the things any intelligent car owner should contain (tools, flares, fix-a-flat, shovel, blanket, map, etc).
2. A meager amount of (emergency) food and water (Protein bars will do)
3. That battered old suitcase (currently in your basement) Including:
Suit, dress shirt and tie, swimsuit, towel, 2 sets of street clothes (1 preppy, one gangsta)
4. TRACPHONE with a few minutes left on it
5. Small trial versions of deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, sunblock
6. Folding chair and umbrella
7. The Script!!! Or any book of your choice, as long as you've got your LINES down.
8. Thermos filled with battery-acid-strength coffee
9. More non-perishable food
10. A pad & pen

Best, K.K.

More to pack!

Yes, clothes, hair, neatness (it counts) is all important, especially the awesome headshot and resume that stands out among the rest (don't go cheap)

The basics are simple but for me as a acting teacher and former manager it is mostly about what's on the inside. As I always say "Acting is a way in, not a way out"

1. confidence
2. a cell phone turned off - vibrate is not good either actors!
3. lots of memorized monologues
4. a cold reading class under your belt
5. know who you are what you want others to see and understand about you
6. a mantra "I am talented and capable of booking many jobs"
7. Love for yourself
8. Respect for the work and the people you are working with
9. Patience
10. Passion

#11 be on time, better yet early
