Acting for Actors

It seems to be these days no longer a serious career for an actor in London, however instead we have been targeted as easy money making machines for Fraud yes you heard me right fraud. It as come to my attention that as the growing number of unemployed actors/actresses become higher we see a growing number of “agencies “ popping up all over the place, with the promise of work and auditions. So what’s the problem your wondering, after the excitement of being accepted into your first agency you are willing to do what ever they wish, After all they know best. The words the use make you feel very reassured and put at ease, next comes the £30 registration fee for what! Allowing your name to be written on a piece of paper and of course all their hard work. Second, the headshots of course the ones you have are not good enough even though you spent at least £500 maybe plus on a professional photographer who grantees they were the best but for some reason you felt unsatisfactory as you left.
So they ask for £150 deposit which you willing give but with caution not to pay the rest until you arrive at the shoot after all you weren’t raised to be completely clueless at least not until now. So the photo shoot day arrives and of course as they asked you went to bed early and packed ready to go making sure you had everything you set off only to find as you arrive that the shoot as been cancelled and everyone was told yesterday, they try to explain that you wrote your number down wrong and it never worked but as you check it looks find and you wonder why they never emailed you or even tried you cell phone. Not wanting to waste your time they book you in for next weekend and you walk away feeling let down but optimistic about the coming weekend. A week as pass and you have been informed the photographer wishes not to only shoot newbie’s today so they cancel. Anger as now set in “what do you mean wishes not to shoot newbie’s, im bloody well paying for him to do this”.
As time goes by they never arrange a new appointment and you know ask to cancel your contact and have you money returned as you are entitled to. No reply you write a letter, no reply. You finally get through to arrange an appointment where you will get your money back and they are happy to do so. It all seems so well until you ring again and again. …About 100 times, no reply. That’s strange! , You turn up just as they planned and no one is there, it seems the office as not been in use for the last week. No one told you this, how dare they do this to you after trusting them with your money they are gone ….no trace and your left out of lost?
